Bake until soft but not mushy, 15 to 20 minutes.
Remove from oven and turn broiler to high.
Using the bottom of a Mason jar or other sturdy glass, flatten each apple half.
Divide the cinnamon-sugar mixture among the apples.
Broil until the pecans are browned, 1 to 2 minutes.
To make ahead
Prepare the cinnamon-sugar mixture (Step 3) a day ahead.
This recipe can be prepared a day in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Reheat in a pan slowly over medium-low heat, stirring gently from time to time until heated through.
