This espresso martini is the perfect pick-me-up cocktail, combining vodka with coffee liqueur and a shot of espresso.

Use freshly brewed espresso and shake vigorously to give this cocktail a rich foam.

Add vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso and simple syrup, if using.

Cover and shake until chilled.

Strain into two cocktail glasses.

Garnish with 3 coffee beans placed on the foam of each cocktail, if desired.

Tips

Tip:Add up to 1 ounce of simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter cocktail.

To prepare simple syrup: Combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan.

Bring to a boil over high heat.

Cook, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved, about 1 minute.

Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature, about 45 minutes.

Refrigerate for up to 1 month.
