Originally, in a September 15, 2022, statement, theFDAstated they had received 386 adverse reaction reports.
Ultimately, it’s difficult to tell just how many were affected, as some probably went unreported.
And some people may have reported symptoms that could have been from something else.
Others have described severe gastrointestinal symptoms and abnormal liver function per the FDA’s statement.
Many victims, including Pearson, filed lawsuits against the company and the product’s manufacturer.

What Is Tara Flour?
Tara is a genus of flowering plants in the legume family.
Tara trees, also known as Peruvian carob or spiny holdback, are grown in South America.
“The legumes of this plant, like many plants, can be made into flour.
Tara flour is a relatively new product that is not widely consumed,” says Schaffner.
This is likely why Daily Harvest turned to it as a protein booster in theirplant-based meat alternative.
“We simply don’t know much yet.”
Is Tara Flour Safe?
Here’s what we do know, though.
Consequently, selling food containing tara flour across state lines is illegal.
“The risk is not worth taking,” says Licalzi.
So be sure to check the label of any food product.
